Alumni Leadership Profiles

Green Corps graduates infuse the environmental movement with visionary ideas and tactical skills in grassroots organizing, making a significant impact on some of today’s most pressing environmental issues. Over the last 15 years, Green Corps has graduated more than 200 emerging environmental leaders from our Field School for Environmental Organizing. Eighty-five percent of our graduates continue to work in the environmental and social change field. Today, our graduates work as executive directors, field directors, campaigners, advocates and grassroots organizers with leading regional and national groups such as Sierra Club, Washington Toxics Coalition, Dogwood Alliance, The Wilderness Society, League of Conservation Voters, Rainforest Action Network, U.S. PIRG and Greenpeace.

Alumni Profiles

“Choosing to do the Green Corps program was a decision that truly changed my life’s path.  Green Corps helped me to understand what it means to be an organizer, challenged me to commit my life to this work, and taught me the skills to be successful at it.  As the director of Rock the Vote, I consistently rely on the skills I first learned at Green Corps as well as the alumni who serve as colleagues and mentors to me.”

- Heather Smith, Executive Director, Rock the Vote, Green Corps Class of 1999
