Green Corps board of directors announces Cindy Kang as new Executive Director

05/30/2008

The Green Corps Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Cindy Kang as Executive Director. Ms. Kang brings nine years of experience with the organization and will be assuming her new position in mid-April, based in San Francisco. Ms. Kang served for four years as Green Corps’ Associate Director, responsible for fundraising and membership outreach efforts of the organization. In this role, she coordinated the Green Corps Alumni Network, providing advanced training, resources and networking opportunities to more than 200 Green Corps graduates who are working in the environmental and social change fields. Ms. Kang also served as Green Corps’ Recruitment Director for four years and was instrumental in doubling the size of the program during a critical growth period. Ms. Kang is a graduate of Green Corps herself, and of Yale University.

Ms. Kang replaces Naomi Roth, who will remain active with Green Corps as a Senior Advisor. Ms. Roth is leaving Green Corps after 10 years to become the Training Director for the PIRG-family of organizations. In this role, Ms. Roth will lead training programs for the family of organizations as well as launch a new training academy for organizations, activists, and students to participate in.

Joining Ms. Kang at the helm of Green Corps, David Rossini will assume the role of Organizing Director after four years as an Assistant Organizing Director. In his new role, he will be responsible for classroom trainings and campaigns. Mr. Rossini has provided field assistance to organizations such as Sierra Club, Alaska Wilderness League, Dogwood Alliance, Defenders of Wildlife, ForestEthics, Minnesota Environmental Partnership, Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters, New Voters Project, U.S. PIRG and Environment America.

On behalf of Green Corps, we thank you for your support and partnership. Green Corps remains committed to training grassroots organizers to tackle today’s most pressing environmental challenges. We hope you will join us in welcoming Ms. Kang and Mr. Rossini as they embark on their new roles, and we look forward to working with you to achieve all our shared goals.
